Histadrut cancels today's meeting

The Histadrut (General Federation of Labor in Israel) said it had to be present at a National Labor Court hearing at 6 pm.

The Histadrut (General Federation of Labor in Israel) struck Israel's entire public sector and part of its private sector today. The strike encompasses all government ministries, local authorities, the banks and Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, Ben Gurion Airport, the railways and ports. Histadrut chairman MK Amir Perez today said the strike would continue until all salaries in arrears to local authorities' employees were paid.

Religious councils employees are also striking.

The Histadrut cancelled today's meeting, scheduled for 3 pm, with the Ministries of Finance and the Interior, and Union of Local Authorities in Israel. Last night's meeting ended without results.

National Union of Clerical, Administrative and Public Service Employees chairman Leon Morozovsky cancelled the meeting, claiming he had to be present for a hearing before National Labor Court president Steve Adler at 6 pm. The Histadrut said the court hearing was important, since it would determine the future of the strike.
