Sources close to Netanyahu: Quarrel with Sharon behind us

Minister of Finance Benjamin Netanyahu is likely to absent himself from the vote on postponing disengagement.

Minister of Finance Benjamin Netanyahu has a busy political week ahead of him. He will be in Africa on Tuesday, in Israel on Wednesday (although not in the Knesset plenum), and in London on Thursday.

Netanyahu will arrive in Entebbe, Uganda on Tuesday to dedicate a memorial to his brother, Jonathan Netanyahu, who fell on July 4, 1976 in the Entebbe operation to rescue passengers hijacked by terrorists on board an Air France plane. The president of Uganda will attend the ceremony.

Netanyahu was invited to attend a large conference of investors in London on Thursday. He may also fly directly from Uganda to London in order to avoid being present in Israel while the Knesset votes on postponing the disengagement plan.

Netanyahu’s confidants said today that they believe that the political dispute between Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Netanyahu “is behind us.”

The sources added, “An irresponsible source around the prime minister is trying to lead him to act irresponsibly by firing the minister of finance. The result could harm the economy and reverse all the achievements and reforms.”

On the other hand, high-level sources said, “It’s not clear who has gone out on a limb, or who will bring a ladder to get them down.”
