IAI Jerusalem plant move frozen for 1 year

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon: "Keeping the Israel Aircraft Industries’ plant in Jerusalem is very important."

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon decided on Thursday afternoon to freeze the move of Israel Aircraft Industries’ (IAI) Jerusalem plant out of the city.

The Prime Minister made his decision after discussing the issue with Minister of Defense Shaul Mofaz, Prime Minister’s Office director-general Ilan Cohen, Ministry of Defense director-general Amos Yaron and IAI president and CEO Moshe Keret.

It was decided that the intention to move the Jerusalem plant would be frozen for one year until Cohen can re-examine the issue with the goal of keeping the plant in the city.

Sharon said that, “Keeping the plant in Jerusalem is very important and we must exhaust every possibility for doing so.”
