Spectronix supplies systems to US Army MRAP bidders

Sderot-based Spectronix makes optical sensors for the detection of fire, gas, and explosives.

Spectronix Ltd. (TASE: SPCT) has supplied systems and subsystems to three companies bidding in the US Army project for mine-resistant ambush protected all-terrain vehicle (MRAP-ATV). The US Army is seeking lighter, more mobile systems for current MRAP vehicles for use in Afghanistan.

The US Army is seeking 2,000 MRAP-ATVs, and could increase the order to 10,000 units.

Sderot-based Spectronix makes optical sensors for the detection of fire, gas, and explosives, as well as suppression systems. The company sells to both military and civilian customers, such as chemical and petrochemical industry, refineries, and airports for aircraft hangars and other risk abundant facilities. In August 2008, the company received orders for its detection and suppression systems from the US Army and Marine Corps.

Shares in Spectronix are rising 4.6% in lage morning trading on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE).
