018 owner Hezi Bezalel has met Pelephone and Cellcom about network sharing.
Businessman Hezi Bezalel, the owner of 018 Xfone Ltd. has met with Cellcom Israel Ltd. (NYSE:CEL; TASE:CEL) CEO Nir Sztern to discuss 4G cooperation in mobile telephony. Bezalel has also met with Minister of Communications Gilad Erdan on the subject while 018 CEO Itzik Ben-Eliezer met with Pelephone Communications Ltd. CEO Gil Sharon on the matter.
These meetings are part of Bezalel's preparations and examinations for entering the cellular market and bidding for 4G tender frequencies in several month's time.
018 Xfone is seriously examining bidding in the tender and if it does so it will be through a local financial organization. As part of this organization, the telecom company wants to examine cooperation with existing networks and how those carriers would view cooperating with Xfone. The Ministry of Communications requires the veteran carriers to host new players and allow them to be part of a share network on condition that they procure at least 5 megahertz.
