Cabinet okays former NICE CEO as Treasury head

Haim Shani will replace current director general Yarom Ariav in two months.

The cabinet today approved the appointment of former NICE-Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: NICE; TASE:NICE) CEO Haim Shani as the next Ministry of Finance director general.

Shani will replace current director general Yarom Ariav in two months.

Minister of Finance Yuval Steinitz told the cabinet, "Haim Shani transformed NICE wthin a few years from a small company into the leader global company in its sector. He was chosen in 2007 as the best CEO in Israel's high-tech industry. Shani's readiness to give up his position in order to join the public sector and serve the Israeli economy is a welcome example of quality people moving from the private sector to serving the state. Shani's international managerial experience and his expertise in exports and high-tech will contribute to our coping with the global crisis."
