Virtualization co VMware wins IEC system deal

Virtualization technology enables the running of several computers simultaneously on the same physical infrastructure.

Sources inform ''Globes'' that VMware Inc. (NYSE: VMW) will expand the virtualization capacity at Israel Electric Corporation's (IEC) (TASE: ELEC.B22) servers farm in a $1 million contract.

Virtualization technology enables the running of several computers simultaneously on the same physical infrastructure, usually at a ratio of 10-20 virtual servers per computer.

IEC is not VMware's only large enterprise customer in Israel. "Globes" reported six months ago that Hewlett Packard Co. (NYSE:HPQ) will install VMware virtualization solutions at the IDF in a $15 million contract.

VMware Israel declined to comment.
