"Ma'ariv" to cut daily magazine

The content will move to the paper's regular news sections.

Hebrew daily "Ma'ariv" is making more cuts. Sources inform ''Globes'' that the paper plans to close its daily magazine in a few months, and its various columns will be merged with the paper's news sections. The magazine's editor, Noam Einav, is leaving the paper after five and a half years.

In view of Einav's departure and the plans for the magazine, the fate of "Ma'ariv" other employees at the longstanding magazine is in doubt. There have been contingency plans to integrate the magazine's content with the paper's news sections for years, but they were never implemented for various reasons. The paper is still examining the content and commercial repercussions of closing the magazine.

The working assumption on the content side is that "Ma'ariv" will become more like a magazine, with more in-depth content, as the future of the print media demands. The idea of melding the news and magazine sections of the paper is part of this concept.

"Ma'ariv" declined to confirm or deny the report.
