Medical device co MCS signs Korean distribution deal

ACS Korea promises to distribute $200,000 of MCS's non-medication deep vein thrombosis treatment in 2011.

MCS Medical Compression Systems (DBN) Ltd. (TASE:MDCL) has signed a distribution agreement for its ActiveCare+SFT product with a South Korean distributor, ASC Korea. ActiveCare+SFT is a non-invasive and non-medication treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), by using mechanical compression of the limbs to prevent blood clots caused by surgery or other reasons.

MCS CEO Adi Dagan said that ACS Korea undertook to distribute a minimum number of devices representing $200,000 in revenue in 2011.

Dagan added, "With the consolidation of the penetration of ActiveCare+SFT product in the US market, as a replacement of drugs for the treatment of DVT, the company has begun marketing in other geographies. We chose Korea as the first step."

ASC distributes products of the world's top surgical equipment manufacturers, Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) and Stryker Corporation (NYSE: SYK).

MCS's share price fell 1.5% by midday to NIS 3.53, giving a market cap of NIS 131 million.
