Brightsource, Alstom mull joint solar bid

Alstom will replace Veolia unit Dalkia as Brightsource's partner in the Ashelim solar plant tender.

Sources inform ''Globes'' that Brightsource Energy Inc. and France's Alstom SA (LSE: ALS; Euronext: ALO) are considering making a joint bid of more than $1 billion tender for the Ashelim solar energy plant.

On Friday, Brightsource reported the talks to tenders committee chairman deputy accountant general Gil Shabtai. Alstom will replace Veolia Environnement SA (NYSE: VE; Euronext: VIE) subsidiary Dalkia SA as Brightsource's partner.

Last month, "Globes" reported that Dalkia was about to quit the Ashelim tender, considered Israel's flagship renewable energy project. Alstom's talks to join a consortium for the project with Minrav Holdings Ltd. (TASE: MNRV), Electra Ltd. (TASE: ELTR), and Germany's Solar Millennium AG (XETRA: S2M), deadlocked last week.

Alstom invested up to $55 million in Brightsource's $150 million financing round in May, which doubled the company’s shareholders' equity.
