Givot consultant Eiland: We can protect rigs

"I see real oil potential at Givot."

Givot Olam Oil Exploration LP (TASE:GIVO.L) has "real potential for oil" at its Meged 5 well, company consultant Giora Eiland told "Globes TV" in an interview at an Institute for National Security Studies seminar on "Natural gas discoveries: strategic implications" yesterday.

"Working in oil is no different on the business side from working in any other field. It's interesting and fascinating, and I enjoy learning," he said.

"Globes TV": "What have you learned so far?

Eiland: "I've learned that Israel has several fields in which there is a great deal of money and a lot of pressure: cellular, defense, and energy. That's what I'm doing now."

Do you foresee threats to Israel's gas and oil facilities?

"I don’t expect concrete threats from Hizbullah. The problem is that Israel's national infrastructures are not properly protected. No one in the country is responsible for it, not the Ministry of Finance or the Ministry of Public Security or the Ministry of National Infrastructures. This worries me and I hope they'll solve it."

If our facilities are attacked, what should Israel do?

"On the defense side, there are technological capabilities to provide strategic facilities, such as offshore rigs, with concrete protection at low cost to protect against missile threats. A decision and budgets are necessary.

You recently became a strategic consultant for Givot. What's your message to investors in the context of what you're saying now?

"When we have something to report, we'll report it. Givot is a company with good intentions, professional know-how, and lack of managerial experience, which I provide. I see real oil potential at Givot."
