IKEA fire caused by rain

Among other issues to be investigated is the fire detection system in the building, in order to prevent fires in similar structures.

The fire which destroyed the IKEA store in Netanya about two weeks ago was apparently caused by rain water which leaked into its electrical system and caused a short, according to a meeting which presented the findings of the investigation into the fire. The meeting's results were reported this morning.

At the meeting, which was attended by officials and investigators of Israel's Fire and Rescue Services, it was decided that since there was no suspicion of negligence or crime, the investigation will continue to be handled by the firefighting services.
