Monthly train tickets cheaper from Tuesday

Transport Minister Israel Katz decided to bring forward the fare cut by one month.

Prices of monthly train tickets will fall 11.5% tomorrow, after Minister of Transport Israel Katz decided to bring forward the fare cut by one month.

The reduction will increase the discount on monthly train tickets to 42.5% from the current discount of 35%. The cost for subscribers will be based on 23 trips, instead of the current 26 trips.

Beginning tomorrow, train riders will be able to buy monthly tickets at a discount of at least 42.5% for all train routes or for any single all intercity, urban, and suburban route.

Katz added that fares on the following lines will be cut by 3.2% tomorrow: Beer Yaakov-Rishonim-Tel Aviv and Rehovot-Tel Aviv.

From April 1, monthly bus tickets on all routes will be reduced as part of the government's decision to reduce public transport fares by 10%.
