"AFP" quotes a Western diplomat in Jordan as saying that Egypt could already resume the supply of natural to Israel and Jordan, but that Bedouin in the Sinai object to gas deliveries to Israel, which is delaying their resumption.
The diplomat said that the supply of natural gas to Jordan has not been resumed because if Egypt resumes gas deliveries to Jordan but not to Israel, this would cause international controversy.
Arab League Secretary General Amr Mussa, who is running for president of Egypt, hinted that, if elected, he would keep the peace treaty with Israel, but would review the gas supply contract.
Ampal-American Israel Corporation (Nasdaq: AMPL; TASE:AMPL), in its last notice to the TASE on Thursday, said that all repairs on the gas pipeline have been completed, implying that gas deliveries could resume. Ampal implied that Egypt was delaying the resumption of gas deliveries. Ampal owns 12.5% of Egyptian gas supplier, East Mediterranean Gas Company (EMG).
