Shared taxi and regular taxi rides will cost 4% more from next Tuesday.
In the wake of bus and railway fare rises earlier this year, taxi fares will rise by 4% from Tuesday at 4pm.
The rise will effect both shared taxis and regular taxis. The meter in regular taxis will still start at NIS 11.10 as at present but the pace that the price will rise will be more rapid.
In contrast to other public transport fare rises, which are linked to the Consumer Price Index (CPI), taxi fare are supervised by the Ministries of Finance and Transport. These government ministries say the latest taxi fare rise reflect the rise in the cost of inputs such as diesel.
