Economics C'tee cuts affordable housing from bill

Tent protesters yelled at committee chairman MK Carmel Shama, "We'll never forget this!"

At today's Knesset Economic Affairs Committee meeting on the national housing commissions bill, two student tent protesters were ejected from the room after shouting, "We have no money! Stop trampling us!"

Prime Minister's Office director general Eyal Gabai was present at the meeting. He called the attempts to include affordable housing solutions in the bill as "garbage" and as "an attempt to impose irrelevant issues on the law". He appeared indifferent to the ejected protesters.

At the end of the meeting, the Economics Committee voted down all amendments about affordable housing, which means that the national housing commissions bill will not include affordable housing.

Protesters who stayed through the discussion got up and yelled at committee chairman MK Carmel Shama (Likud), "We'll never forget this!"

An embarrassed Shama locked the door, saying, "I'm sorry. I tried to do everything, but the committee members would not agree."
