Livni joins doctors' march to Jerusalem

Opposition chairwoman MK Tzipi Livni: The doctors have huge public support. They are a group that symbolizes everyone's struggle.

Opposition chairwoman MK Tzipi Livni (Kadima) today joined the doctors' march to Jerusalem. The doctors are due to reach the capital today and will demonstrate outside the prime minister's office. Israel Medical Association chairman Dr. Leonid Eidelman, who is on hunger strike, is one of the marchers.

Livni said, "It's not enough to arrive; the doors to the prime minister's office must be open. The doctors have huge public support. They are a group that symbolizes everyone's struggle."

Livni added, "These are people willing to work hard. This is a struggle of the middle class. It symbolizes everything that is right, just as the prime minister's conduct symbolizes everything that is wrong. The prime minister should intervene and solve problems. He can't shut himself up in his office and hope that everything will pass."

Explaining her decision to join the marchers, Livni said, "For 130 days, they marched alone. They fought alone. After I spoke with them and when I realized that my joining them gave them strength, I decided to join the march this morning."
