Re/MAX Israel reports rise in apartment sales

CEO Bernard Raskin: The figures from all kinds of sources are inaccurate. We're not seeing any slowdown at the company.

"There were 33% more transactions in July 2011 than in July 2010," says Re/MAX Israel CEO Bernard Raskin. "The figures from all kinds of sources are inaccurate. We're not seeing any slowdown at the company. Prices are not rising now, but I don’t see them falling, either. On the contrary, I think that the rise in prices will continue."

Raskin insists that there was no fall in home prices in the past month, not even marginally. However, while he says that the number of transactions has increased, he declines to cite specific numbers to support his assertion.

Raskin adds that the government should act responsibly, and not propose populist proposals for the housing problems. "If the government decides tomorrow to cut all the taxes on home purchases - that will cause a crisis. We'll see the parents of the tent protesters joining them," he said.
