Medical residents to reject Netanyahu offer

The residents will not withdraw their resignations.

Representatives of the medical residents implied this morning that they will reject an offer by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to postpone their mass resignations by 10 days, unless he makes a "concrete offer." The specialists are demand a NIS 7,000 pay hike, shortening the period of the agreement that was signed, and the cancelling of the clause in the agreement allowing ward managers to require residents to do extra shifts.

Netanyahu met the residents' representatives for over two hours last night. The meeting was mediated by his personal physician Prof. Azriel Rachmilevich. Netanyahu asked the residents to postpone their planned mass resignation. The residents told him of their problematic job conditions and their problems with the labor agreement.
