Amdocs in talks to open Nazareth R&D center

Industry Minister Shalom Simhon: The company will employ 200 people from minority communities.

Minister of Industry, Trade and Labor Shalom Simhon announced today that the ministry's Investment Promotion Center was in advanced talks with Amdocs Ltd. (NYSE: DOX) to open an R&D center at the Nazareth High-Tech Park. He said that the company would employ 200 people from minority communities, including engineers, at the center.

"This is great news for Nazareth, that a company of the size of Amdocs is planning to come to the community and hire engineers," Simhon said. "Talks have been underway for several months, and the differences are minor."

Investment Promotion Center director Hezi Zaieg said that the ministry had excellent relations with Amdocs, which also employs 800 people in Sderot and Shaar Hanegev. He said that, on this basis, the ministry decided to offer incentives to the company to open another development center for minorities in Nazareth. Under the plan, most of the center's employees will earn NIS 15,000-30,000 a month. The center will also train students who will subsequently be hired at high salaries.

Zaieg said that at least one other high-tech company, offering high salaries, would settle in the Nazareth High-Tech Park. "The coming years, there will be a jobs revolution for minorities in high tech," he said.
