CA, Tel Aviv University to set up innovation center

The new center will focus on enterprise computer infrastructure management and cyber security.

CA Technologies Inc. (NYSE: CA) CEO William McCracken has announced that the company is expanding its Israeli operations, and will launch, in cooperation with Tel Aviv University, a new innovations center. The new center will focus on enterprise computer infrastructure management and cyber security. CA did not disclose details about the planned investment in the center, but it will reportedly total several million dollars.

CA is joining a growing list of high-tech multinationals that are tightening ties with Israeli academe. The company already cooperates with academic institutions in the US, and India. "We benefit from the insights, ideas, and new ways to help solve the challenges our customers face, and which could lead to new products and services in the future," said McCracken.

CA co-founder and vice chairman Russell Artzt, who was responsible for the company's security business, is heading the new effort. The company has not yet chosen a location for the new innovations center, which is due to begin operations in a few months. McCracken says that CA aims to have "hundreds of researchers" at the center.
