Ministry hints at no change in Tzemach C'ttee recommendations

The ministry said, "The committee's recommendations explicitly allow exports only from proven reserves.

The Ministry of Energy and Water Infrastructures has responded to calls to change the Tzemach Committee recommendations on natural gas exports from Israel following the failure of the Myra and Sarah drillings. A ministry statement said that it regretted that the drillings had not succeeded and that the matter represents a loss both to the national economy and investors. The statement added that, "It is a shame that various interested parties are again attacking the conclusions of the inter-ministerial committee while misleading the public and without any connection to the recommendations."

The ministry continued, "The committee's recommendations explicitly allow exports only from proven reserves, in other words those that have been declared as such by the ministry's petroleum supervisor as holdings."

The statement concluded, "The ministry continues to believe in the great potential contained in the Mediterranean region and Israel's economic waters."
