Ma'ariv to fire 100 administrative staff today

The fate of the newspaper's journalists will be decided next week by new publisher Shlomo Ben-Tzvi.

Dozens of Ma'ariv Holdings Ltd. (TASE: MARV-M) employees will be fired today by the newspaper's trustee. Most of the 100 employees being fired are administrative staff.

Meanwhile no journalists from the "Ma'ariv" daily newspaper will be fired today. The fate of the journalists will be decided next week when new owner Shlomo Ben-Tzvi enters the picture.

Over the past few weeks Ben-Tzvi's advisors have been working strenuously to get to know the newspaper and its employees.

Today was the deadline for the new publisher to take over the newspaper and re-hire those employees he wants to keep. However, the trustee agreed to Ben-Tzvi's request to delay his entry by a week because he is not yet familiar enough with the newspaper.
