Nurses strike heading for second day

The Ministry of Finance is offering the nurses a 2% pay hike and 6% over three years.

The gap between the Israel National Association of Nurses and the Ministry of Finance remains very significant as work sanctions were imposed today throughout Israel's health system.

Sources inform "Globes" that the Ministry of Finance is offering the nurses a 2% pay hike and 6% over three years. However, the nurses are demanding a 15% rise over the next three years. In fact the nurses want this on top of the rises agreed for the entire public sector meaning that they are demanding 20% over three years.

Both sides expressed skepticism that the talks to be held tonight will bring an end to the work sanctions.

In the event that no agreement is reached the Ministry of Finance will petition the Labor Court for a back-to-work order to be issued.
