The winter storm strengthened overnight, with strong winds and heavy rain continuing through today. Winds will reach 80-100 km/h. The Ayalon Highway in Tel Aviv was closed in both directions this morning when the Ayalon River flooded its banks, and train service in the city may be suspended. Tel Aviv Traffic Police commander Amir Jibli told “IDF Radio" (Galei Zahal), "The situation is worsening, but traffic will slow thin. Tel Aviv is completely jammed. Unless it's urgent, don’t leave home."

Snow is forecast to fall in Safed and the Galilee mountains tonight, and optimal snow conditions will last through Thursday morning, when the precipitation will move to the center and south of the country. Light snow is forecast to fall on Jerusalem Wednesday afternoon, and snow may also fall on the Negev Mountains.

Temperatures will continue to fall nationwide. There will be thunderstorms and lightening, strong winds, and danger of floods and flash floods. The storm system will ease over the weekend.
