Golan Telecom Ltd. has responded to yesterday's suicide plan by Hot Mobile Ltd. with a suicide plan of its own: zero payments for three months for an unlimited calls plan, after which the price rises to NIS 99 a month. The plan will be in effect through the end of July.
Golan Telecom claims that its campaign is not response to the plan of rival carrier Hot Mobile, but was planned in advance for a limited time during the summer. Golan Telecom has been out-recruiting Hot Telecom for new subscribers for several months, and the rivalry between the carriers has intensified. Hot Telecommunication Systems Ltd. (TASE: HOT.B1) CEO Herzel Ozer calls it "cutthroat", and says that he does not know how long Israel can sustain five mobile carriers at the prevailing prices.
