Lapid and "Israel Today" bury past hostilities

Sources inform ''Globes'' that, last week, Minister of Finance Yair Lapid, held another meeting with Hebrew daily "Israel Today's" senior editors, after previously meeting editor-in-chief Amos Regev.

Relations between Lapid, who is considered close to Hebrew daily "Yediot Ahronot" (for which he wrote for many years), and Sheldon Adelson's "Israel Today", have been tense for a long time. Lapid has called the newspaper "the prime minister's mouthpiece", and the newspaper did not offer favorable coverage of Lapid when he took up his post, mainly because he was considered a political threat to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

In May, website Al Monitor (Middle East Pulse) reported that Lapid met Adelson, and said that, around the same time, Lapid obtained a change in attitude from "Israel Today" in a story of a meeting with the Knesset Finance Committee. Lapid has never explained his meeting with Adelson.

The most recent meeting, at "Israel Today's" offices last week, was called as part of Lapid's meetings with various media at this time. The meeting was off the record, and parties present said that it was comfortable and correct.

"Israel Today" and Lapid's office declined to comment on the report.
