GetTaxi cancels cab ordering fee

GetTaxi: The increase in its available cab fleet has reduced the distance that a cab has to go to pick up a passenger, rendering the fee unnecessary.

GetTaxi Ltd. has decided to cancel the NIS 5.20 fee for ordering a taxi via its service in Israel. The decision, made with the consent of the taxi drivers, comes a few weeks after the company added several taxi companies to its service.

GetTaxi says that the increase in its available cab fleet has reduced the distance that a cab has to go to pick up a passenger, rendering the hailing commission unnecessary. It added that, under Ministry of Transport regulations, a taxi driver can charge NIS 5.20 for reserving a cab, and that GetTaxi is now the only cab station that does not charge the extra fee.

The decision is a serious blow for competing taxi companies, because they will probably not follow suit and cancel the fee because of their smaller cab fleets.

"With the consent of our drivers, we decided to cancel the fee for ordering a cab, in order to continue to grow and provide passengers with the best taxi service in Israel. From today, there is no reason to order a cab from stations or hail a cab on the street," said GetTaxi.
