Ceragon wins $7m Tanzania order from Vodafone unit

Ceragon Networks has won follow-on orders from Vodacom Tanzania to upgrade and support backbone links across the country to meet heightened demand for advanced data services.

Ceragon Networks Ltd. (Nasdaq: CRNT; TASE:CRNT) has won $7 million in follow-on orders from Vodacom Tanzania Ltd. to upgrade and support backbone links across the country to meet heightened demand for advanced data services.

Vodacom Tanzania, a unit of Vodafone Group plc (LSE; NYSE: VOD), is the country's largest mobile carrier, with 10 million subscribers. It has been a Ceragon customer since 2009.

"The African marketplace is uniquely suited to embrace a wireless backhaul approach," said Ceragon president and CEO Ira Palti. "Building connectivity in remote areas, with a population accustomed to connecting to the Internet primarily through mobile devices, is ideal for Ceragon's many long haul offerings."
