Delek Group Ltd. (TASE: DLEKG), controlled by Yitzhak Tshuva, is ranked in 155th place in the Platts Top 250 Global Energy Companies Rankings. Platts said that this was the first time that an Israeli energy company was included in the prestigious rankings.
Delek Group, run by CEO Asi Bartfeld, is ranked 48 places behind Noble Energy Inc. (NYSE: NBL), its strategic partner in all of Delek's gas fields in Israel, as well as in the Aphrodite field in Cyprus. Noble Energy is ranked in 107th place, 50 places behind Australia's Woodside Petroleum Ltd. (ASX: WPL), which is in talks with Delek and Ratio Oil Exploration (1992) LP (TASE:RATI.L) to acquire 30% of the rights to the Leviathan gas field.
Delek's inclusion in the Platts Top 250 is based on the hookup of the Tamar gas field to Israel's coast in April 2013. Until this year, Delek controlled one small gas field - Mari B.
The oil majors ExxonMobil Corporation (NYSE: XOM), Chevron Corporation (NYSE: CVX), and Royal Dutch Shell plc (LSE: RDSA) took the top places in the Platts Top 250. Saudi Arabia's Aramco, considered the world's largest energy company, was not included.
