Kinneret water level starts rising

By Wednesday afternoon 35-50 millimeters of rain had fallen on the Galilee and coastal plain since Tuesday evening.

The water level of the Kinneret has risen by two centimeters in the past 24 hours, as the first winter storm has reached Israel, and its peak is still ahead. Heavy rain has fallen from the Galilee through the northern Negev, accompanied by strong winds, thunder, snow on Mount Hermon, and floods in wadis and low-lying areas.

35-50 millimeters of rain has fallen on the Galilee and coastal plain since Tuesday evening, 10% of the annual average, and 20 centimeters of snow has fallen at the lower level of the Mount Hermon ski run.

The Meteorological Service says that the storm will strengthen tonight, with snow possible in Jerusalem and the Judean Mountains.
