Kinneret misses out on December rainfall

The Kinneret's water level rose by just 11 centimeters during December to 211.29 meters below sea level.

Data from the Water Authority's Hydrological Service show that precipitation in December 2013 was above average in the Yarkon-Taninim Basin and along the coast, but below average in the Kinneret Basin and the Western Galilee. The unusual mid-month rainfall event had a very strong effect on the central and southern coastal basins.

The Kinneret's water level rose by eleven centimeters during December to 211.29 meters below sea level at the end of the month, after falling by nine centimeters in November. The Kinneret's water level rose by 50 centimeters in December 2012. The Kinneret's water level is now 1.71 meters above the lower red line and 2.49 meters below the upper red line.

The water level of the Dead Sea rose by three centimeters during December to 427.82 meters below sea level at the beginning of January, after falling by eight centimeters in November. The Dead Sea's water level fell by eleven centimeters in December 2012.

The water level in the Yarkon-Taninim Basin aquifer rose by 13-39 centimeters in December. The water level rose in the most of the Coastal Basin aquifers, the water level in the Western Galilee Basin aquifer rose by 38 centimeters, and the water level in the Kabri Basin aquifer rose by 49 centimeters.
