IDF retaliates after six rockets fired toward Ashkelon

Five of the incoming rockets were intercepted by an Iron Dome battery.

A barrage of six rockets were fired from Gaza against Ashkelon at 1 am last night. Five of the incoming rockets were intercepted by an Iron Dome battery, and one rocket landed in open ground. There were no casualties.

A few hours later, the Israel Air Force attacked terrorist targets in Gaza. The IDF spokesman's office said, "An underground rocket-launcher, a weapons-storage facility and a weapons-manufacturing site, all located in the northern Gaza Strip. Direct hits were confirmed."

Last night's rocket fire was the second incident, following the firing of two Kassam rockets toward Sderot, after the funeral of former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon on Monday. Both rockets landed in open ground, causing no casualties.
