Litvak denies she wants top TASE job

TASE search committee head Bracha Litvak had reported being approached about becoming chairman herself.

Bracha Litvak, who is chairman of the search committee charged with finding a new chairman for the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE), issued a press statement today saying that "she has not applied for the post of chairman and has no intention of becoming chairman of the stock exchange." The statement was issued following a meeting of the TASE board today at which a detailed report was presented on the work of the search committee since it was appointed in November last year.

The board congratulated the committee on its work, and announced that since an agreed candidate had not yet been found, the search for a chairman would continue.

Litvak issued her statement against a background of recent media reports that she had presented her candidacy for the post. She herself confirmed that approaches had been made to her in the past few days. The report that she would be a candidate for chairman drew fierce criticism, as she currently serves, among other things, as a member of the TASE audit committee, and is expected to take an objective stance, and certainly not to put herself forward directly or by implication as a candidate for the chairmanship.

The search committee was appointed after TASE chairman Sam Bronfeld and CEO Ester Levanon resigned following sharp criticism of their performance by Israel Securities Authority chairman Shmuel Hauser.
