Yael Andorn was a personal appointee of Yair Lapid, finance minister in the outgoing government.

With Kulanu leader Moshe Kahlon expected to be appointed minister of finance in Benjamin Netanyahu's new government, Ministry of Finance director-general Yael Andorn announced her resignation today.

"After two years of intensive work, I leave my post as director-general of the Ministry of Finance with satisfaction," Andorn said. "During this period, we built a strategic plan for the ministry taking a long-term view of the Israeli economy, and we carried out a series of reforms in the capital market, employment, long-term savings, and other areas.

"Having begun my professional career at the Ministry of Finance, I was happy to return to the ministry as director-general, and to find out that it still attracts professionals who excel in their fields, and who are committed to the welfare of Israel's people."

Andorn added "I thank the former minister of finance and the prime minister for the privilege of serving the government and the public. I wish the incoming minister of finance success in the post, and believe that the managerial infrastructure we have built and the plans we have drawn up and that will be available to him will represent an excellent starting point for the next government."

"Globes" estimated a few days ago that Andorn, who was appointed by the minister of finance in the previous government, Yair Lapid, would resign. The post of director-general of the Ministry of Finance is recognized as a position that requires great personal trust, and Andorn, despite her long record in the professional ranks and her long acquaintance with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is considered a personal appointment by previous minister Yair Lapid.
