2,290 new homes were sold in March 2017, the Central Bureau of Statistics reports, 15% more than in February 2017 but 21% less than in March 2016. This is the tenth consecutive month that sales of new homes built by contractors were down from the corresponding month of the previous year.
Sales of new homes have been falling for the past 10 consecutive months.
Sales of new homes between January and March 2017 totaled 6,840, up 2.6% from the final quarter of 2016 but down 6.9% when seasonal adjustments are taken into account and down 17.6% from the corresponding period of last year.
Most homes in March were sold in the central region (711), while the least number of homes was sold in Jerusalem (153).
