The Ministry of Transport and Netivei Israel (National Transport Infrastructure Company) today announced the construction of four new interchanges on Road 77 in northern Israel. In the future, the interchanges will replace the current intersections with traffic lights.
The four interchanges - Tur'an, Beit Rimon, Tziporit, and Hosh'aya - are located between the Golani and HaMovil Interchanges. Construction costs are estimated at NIS 360 million. The Ministry of Transport also announced that another project would be begun this month involving construction of an interchange to replace an intersection with traffic lights at Ramat Yishai.
Minister of Transport Yisrael Katz said that the interchanges would facilitate safe and continuous travel for the entire length of Road 77 on a dual carriageway road with two lanes in each direction, and provide complete and direct access to the communities, enterprises, and IDF bases along the road. Construction of the four interchanges will be completed within two years.
Netivei Israel CEO Nissim Peretz stated that the Road 77 interchanges project was of strategic importance in completing the connection of outlying areas to the central region. The projects currently taking place on roads in northern Israel, including the new Road 77 and Ramat Yishai Interchange, on which construction will begin shortly, will provide a high-speed connecting route to any destination in Israel, and convenient, safe, and rapid traveling. Like Netivei Israel's other projects, the rural and environmentally friendly character of this project was assigned the highest importance in the preliminary planning, in addition to special bridges and passages for farmers and pedestrians.
