The Russian flag carrier will run 37 weekly flights, including four daily flights from Tel Aviv to Moscow.

Aeroflot, the Russian flag carrier, is expanding its services to Israel to 37 weekly flights. The Russian Federation's largest airline is currently celebrating 5 years of operations in Israel.

For the upcoming winter season, Aeroflot will run four daily flights on the Moscow-Tel Aviv line. It will also operate a daily flight to St. Petersburg and two weekly flights to Rostov.

Aeroflot, represented in Israel by Open Sky, started flying Transaero passengers who were stranded after the Russian aviation authority revoked their latter carrier's license.

"The transport of Transareo passengers was completed successfully by Aeroflot and comprehensively coordinated by Open Sky, Aeroflot's representative in Israel, with the civil aviation authority," said company representatives on Wednesday.

They added that Aeroflot's cargo operations in Israel, represented by Open Sky Cargo, expanded by more than 20% in the last year.

At a welcome ceremony for senior Aeroflot executives held at Ben Gurion Airport this morning, Open Sky CEO Ephraim Fortis said: "We are celebrating twice today -- both the five years of successful Aeroflot operations in Israel and the doubling of the number of flights running on the Moscow-Tel Aviv route."
