easyJet Israel commercial manager Neil Slaven told "Yediot Ahronot" that there is demand for a Tel Aviv-Amsterdam route.

EasyJet plc (LSE: EZJ) hopes to launch flights between Tel Aviv and Amsterdam, reports "Yediot Ahronot."

Senior managers of the UK low-cost carrier were in Israel last week for meetings with Israel Airport Authority officials and tourism representatives. easyJet Israel commercial manager Neil Slaven said that market research conducted in Israel over the past few months indicated the need for a route between Tel Aviv and Amsterdam. easyJet already operates flights to 20 destinations from Amsterdam.

easyJet’s already operates eight routes from Ben Gurion airport and a ninth route to Paris begins on March 30. With the inauguration of the Paris route the low-cost carrier will fly more than half a million passengers a year into and out of Israel on 37 weekly departures to London (Gatwick), London (Luton), Manchester, Geneva, Basel, Rome, Milan, Berlin, and Paris.

Slaven said that EasyJet would only consider operating flights to and from Eilat when the new international airport is built at Timna.
