Starting tomorrow, HOT Mobile Ltd. will begin an aggressive campaign calling on Golan Telecom Ltd. customers to present their bills to HOT Mobile and join the latter on the same terms for six months.
HOT Mobile hopes to profit from Golan Telecom's problems on the eve of the Restrictive Trade Practices Tribunal's ruling on the latter's merger with Cellcom Israel Ltd. (NYSE:CEL; TASE:CEL), which will probably not be allowed. Golan Telecom controlling shareholder Michael Golan has stated that if Golan Telecom's merger is not approved, the company will collapse, resulting in a negative impact on all the operators in the communications market.
It therefore appears that HOT Mobile has decided to be the first to expedite Golan Telecom's collapse by inviting the latter's subscribers to join it, thereby guaranteeing that they will be able to obtain for the next six months the same price they had at Golan Telecom.
HOT Mobile is already offering a successful bargain campaign for couples that has made it the leader in recruiting new subscribers for several months in a row: NIS 60 per couple with a surfing package of 3 gigabytes.
