Last night, IS (Islamic State) released a video under the title "Slaughter of the Jews". The clip appears to represent an attempt by IS to recruit Palestinians to its ranks, and to direct those prepared to carry out attacks on Israelis. In seven short clips filmed in northern Iraq and in Syria, members of the organization call on the Palestinians to swear allegiance to their leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, and in effect to become soldiers of the Islamic State.
In the video, IS explains to the Palestinians that Fatah and Hamas are two sides of the same coin, that both arose in order to divide the Palestinians and rule them in accordance with the personal interests of their leaders, who are presented as agents of the crusaders (the Western countries) and the Shi'ites (Iran). The movement's spokespersons praises the attacks by the "lone wolves" who assault Israelis with knives, but calls on the Palestinians to carry out more serious attacks with explosives, and to "sow fear in the hearts of the Jews". The Jews, they say, are "women who run away from battle".
In another part of the video, the voice of IS spokesperson Abu Muhammad al-Adnani is heard reprising one of his previous messages: "If you cannot prepare a bomb or obtain a pistol, attack the infidel American or Frenchman or one of their allies with your hands, smash his head with a stone or slaughter him with a knife or run him over with your car or throw him down or strangle him or poison him or burn his house and his car, his business and his field. If you are not capable of doing all this, spit in his face."
In one section the person speaking is apparently a Palestinian, nicknamed Abu Hudhaifa Alkudsi (the Jerusalemite). He addresses the Palestinians and alludes to the terrorist organization's intentions: "If we did not have to fight the infidels, we would already be among you," he says. To the Jews, who are presented as descendants of monkeys and pigs, the video clip says, "We will yet enter the Al Aqsa Mosque and fly our flag in Jerusalem, and it will not help you if you hide there behind a rock. We will torture you and kill you with cruelty, in the way your fathers found their deaths."
