"Jerusalem Post" mulls acquiring "Makor Rishon"

"Israel Today" and "Yediot Ahronot" are also interested in buying the newspaper.

The race to acquire national-religious newspaper "Makor Rishon" could become a battle of the media titans with market sources believing that the country's two largest newspapers - "Israel Today" and "Yediot Ahronot" - as well as the "Jerusalem Post" interested in buying the paper from the receiver. The deadline for submitting bids is tomorrow at 5 pm.

"Makor Rishon" is in a stay of proceedings along with "Ma'ariv," with the former attracting major attention. Both are owned by Shlomo Ben-Tzvi. Also interested in "Makor Rishon" are the Hasheva Group and Tashdir, a company which prints newsletters for distribution to synagogues each Shabbat.
