The Israel Tax Authority announced that its customs inspectors at the Allenby Bridge border crossing between Israel and Jordan have thwarted a major smuggling attempt by a Jordanian diplomat.
When the diplomat's car was stopped for inspection it was found to have hundreds of smartphones and gold ingots and jewelry. The diplomat was sent back to Jordan.
Only one month ago, Israeli inspectors stopped an EU diplomat at the Allenby Bridge with dozens of kilograms of gold, smartphones and steroids worth an estimated NIS 10 million.
