The first buyer fixed price tender over the Green Line is for Kiryat Arba.

The first buyer fixed price tender over the Green Line has been published. The Ministries of Finance and Construction and Housing today published a buyer fixed price tender in Kiryat Arba. At the same time, sources inform "Globes" that the tender is not a one-time event; another buyer fixed price tender is slated for publication soon in Maalei Adumim., and senior sources confirmed that additional tenders over the Green Line were planned.

The tender now published on the Israel Land Authority (ILA) website includes land for construction of 42 high-density housing units in the Givat Harsina neighborhood. The tender is scheduled for closing on September 12, but as of now, the tender booklet has not yet been published.

The tender fits in with the statement by Minister of Finance Moshe Kahlon earlier this week at a meeting of the Kulanu Knesset faction in the shadow of the series of terrorist attacks in Judea and Samaria at the end of last week. "The killing of a child in her sleep and shooting at passing vehicles have only one aim: to sow fear and terror and make people leave their homes," he said at last Monday's faction meeting.

"It is important to make it clear to the murderers - the future of the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria will be determined in negotiations, not by violence. We have no choice other than to build now, and to build a lot. At the end of last week, I called the prime minister and asked him to halt the freeze on construction in Jerusalem. We have to tell the truth Jerusalem has suffered for years from an unacknowledged construction freeze. This freeze is driving young couples away from the city, causing undesirable demographic changes, and constitutes an integral part of the housing crisis.

"We freeze building and they incite. We freeze and they murder. I welcome the prime minister's decision to build in Maalei Adumim, and I hope this will happen. I asked the prime minister to restore planning and building authority to the Local and Jerusalem District Planning and Building Commissions. The Ministries of Finance and Construction and Housing and the Planning Administration are pushing as hard as they can for a solution to the housing problem throughout Israel. It breaks my heart to see that only in Jerusalem are the Planning and Building Commissions emasculated and unable to function. We must not allow development in neighborhoods like Pisgat Zeev, Gilo, and French Hill in the heart of Israel's capital come to a standstill. A complete reversal of policy is needed construction in Jerusalem for the benefit of all its residents, and the sooner, the better."
