Haim Katz has decided that essential work on Israel Railways infrastructure will take place this Saturday.

Following the Israel Railways crisis last Saturday, Minister of Welfare and Social Services Haim Katz, whose position makes him responsible for issuing permits for work on the Sabbath, has decided that essential work on Israeli Railways would take place this Saturday, it was reported today.

According to the report, Katz plans to consider each week what critical and essential work should be done on the Sabbath, and to grant a permit for it, and what should be postponed until the rest of the week.

Katz declared, "Each case will be judged on its merits. Any safety work that should take place on the Sabbath will be done. Any work that can only be done on the Sabbath will be done. The holiness of the Sabbath will also be preserved, but I'll accomplish this quietly, without shouting. In cases in which work does not need to be done (on the Sabbath), it will not be done. Work has taken place on the Sabbath for year, and will continue to take place in the future. There has been too much noise for no reason."
