Netanyahu's approval rating sinks - survey

Support for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has fallen sharply over the past four days.

A survey by Shiluv Millward Brown together with iPanel for Channel 2 News shows that support among the Israeli public for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has fallen off sharply in the past four days.

According to the survey, only 38% of Israelis are satisfied with Netanyahu's performance, while 50% are dissatisfied. Four days ago, Netanyahu had a 55% approval rating.

Three weeks ago, approval for Netanyahu was at 63%, and at the start of Operation Protection Edge, when IDF ground forces entered the Gaza Strip, his approval rating was at 82%.

68% of Israelis say that the government has not dealt well with the treatment of the population in settlements on the border with the Gaza Strip, compared with only 24% who say that it has dealt well with the matter.

Only 18% of respondents to the current survey say that the new school year should start on time nationwide on September 1. 63% say that the school year should not begin in the south of the country, and 15% say it should not begin at all while the fighting continues.
