The center will be based on NICE Systems 3D geolocation systems that it bought.

Nokia Networks is setting up an Israel development center after buying a broad solution for advanced geolocation capabilities from NICE Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: NICE; TASE: NICE) to enhance the planning and optimization of mobile networks. With the acquisition, Nokia Networks gains access to tools, technical expertise, and the right to further develop these capabilities.

This is a further step in Nokia Networks' pursuit of innovation that comes from the global community of technology companies."

Nokia Networks Head of Network Planning and Optimization at the Global Services Business Unit Dennis Lorenzin said, "Advanced network planning and optimization services are at the forefront of Nokia Networks' strategic services to mobile operators. Nokia Networks intends to enhance this unique solution in order to offer superior services to our customers, regardless of which network gear they use."

NICE Security Group President Yaron Tchwella said, "NICE is very pleased with this new engagement with Nokia Networks, which is one of the leading mobile broadband service providers for the telecom operators worldwide, and with this arrangement, our unique 3-D solution will now be made available for a much larger installed base."
