NTA chairman promises Tel Aviv light rail by 2021

Alex Wiznitzer tells "Globes TV: Were this the private sector, it would look different.

With a cost of tens of billions shekels and eight years behind schedule, new NTA Metropolitan Mass Transit System Ltd. chairman Alex Wiznitzer promises that the Tel Aviv light rail system will begin running in 2021. He wishes to put aside, for the sake of industrial quiet, the company's waste, nepotism, and scandalous slow pace of the project.

Until six months ago, the project's preparations in terms of the environment was wrong," Wiznitzer told "Globes TV". "Were this the private sector and shareholders were constantly counting the waiting, everything would look different. A CEO would have been chosen and there would be oversight…but that's not how things work at government companies."

Wiznitzer promises to finish the project by 2021 "at the latest". "A huge effort is needed to bring forward the timetables. For this purpose, we've hired the right and very, very qualified people. We have a modest request: let us do our job. Give us industrial quiet."
