A senior Israel Land Authority official and a former member of Knesset are being questioned in a new corruption case.

The police have raided the offices of the Israel Land Authority. Several investigators of the National Fraud Investigation Squad came to the Israel Land Authority Offices this morning with a warrant to produce documents. The Israel Police National Fraud Investigation Unit is questioning a senior Israel Land Authority official under caution, on suspicion of offenses of fraud and breach of trust. A former member of Knesset who is a close associate of the official and who currently runs a law practice is also being questioned.

The National Fraud Investigation Unit has been conducting a covert investigation for six months. The investigation began after a complaint was made to the police.

The suspicion is that on several occasions the senior official breached the terms of the conflict of interest document he signed on his appointment at the Israel Land Authority, and that he dealt with files that involved him in conflicts of interest without making the required declaration. The investigation continues.

This morning, the National Fraud Investigation Unit seized documents at the offices of the people under suspicion, including at the offices of the Israel Land Authority. The investigation was coordinated with the Attorney General from the beginning and is being carried out in consultation with the economic division of the State Prosecutor's Office.
