RR Media Ltd. (Nasdaq:RRM), which provides digital content management and distribution services for television and radio networks from all over the world, reports that it is acquiring Romanian company Eastern Space Systems (ESS). ESS is a private company that provides content management, distribution, and consultation services.
The acquisition will provide RR Media with additional satellite coverage through the Intelsat 1W satellite, and access to one of the fastest growing distribution platforms for digital content, with more than 17 million television-viewing households in Central and Eastern Europe and Scandinavial.
The acquisition will also expand RR Media's smart network, and provide the company with additional penetration into Europe on ESS's fiber-optic infrastructure, as well as local IP capabilities and fiber-optic infrastructure in Romania.
